Sawajiri may handle divorce on her own

女優沢尻エリカ（２４）が３０日午前、成田空港着の航空機でマレーシアから帰国し、夫の高城剛氏（４６）に再反論した。高城氏は沢尻がマレーシアに 滞在していた２７日に日刊スポーツなどの取材に応じ、エイベックスと沢尻との契約の調整を進める弁護士から「離婚が契約の条件」だと言われたことを明言。 しかし、沢尻はこの日、あらためて「そういう条件はありません。離婚は自分の気持ちだけです」と強調した。ツイッターで離婚条件が契約条件に入っていない ことを主張し、暗に高城氏を批判してきたエイベックスの松浦勝人社長と同じ主張だ。

Tsuyoshi Takashiro, alleged in a Jan. 27 interview with Nikkan Sports that the 24-year-old actress's lawyer had told him that her divorce from Takashiro was a condition of reaching an agreement with the Avex talent agency. This was, however, repeatedly denied by the actress.

"There is no such condition," Sawajiri emphasized. "The divorce is only based on my feelings."

Via the mircoblogging service Twitter, Sawajiri also emphasized that no such condition existed, echoing criticism by Avex President Masato Matsuura.

Sawaji arrived wearing the same long black shawl she had worn when departing. Takashiro said that he had given Sawajiri divorce papers, and acknowledged that he had seen her denials for the divorce on TV, but emphasized his version of events. Although Sawajiri had yet to initial the documents, she noted that they were being prepared for her trip to Spain.

また、離婚届の提出時期について「２人の期限があって、その期限が過ぎたら私の権限で出します」と明言した。関係者によると、同時期は、仕事を含めた関 係各方面の調整を終える「夏に入る前」とみられている。一方で、高城氏が「（沢尻から）嫌いじゃないと言われた」と話したことに関しては、苦笑いで口を閉 ざした。

"We both have a deadline," Sawajiri said, speaking about the divorce papers. "If that deadline passes, I will turn in the papers, myself." According to sources, both sides were expected to file the papers before summer.

Meanwhile, regarding reports that their divorce could be amicable, Takashiro could only manage a weak smile.

Sawajiri added that her trip to Malaysia for este treatement went well. Although the arrived at the airport hidden by a cap and her shawl, reporters were able to catch a glimpse of her newly cut and permed hair.

"I'd just like to get home now and relax for a bit," the actress said.

The next time Sawajiri makes a public appearance, expect to see another image change.

Officer forces self on female subordinate inside police car

同僚の女性警察官にわいせつな行為をしたとして、兵庫県警が、強制わいせつ容疑で同県内の警察署に勤務する男性警部補（３１）を書類送検したことが２８ 日、捜査関係者への取材でわかった。県警は同日、この警部補を停職６カ月の処分にした。警部補は「大変申し訳ないことをした」と事実を認め、依願退職した という。

Papers have been sent to prosecutors in Hyogo Prefecture after a 31-year-old male police officer employed with the prefectural police attempted to force himself on a female subordinate, sources close to the matter said Friday.

According to police, the officer has been suspended for six months after admitting and apologizing for the act.

捜査関係者によると、警部補は昨年１１月２３日と２７日、パトロール中のパトカー内で、部下の女性警察官の肩や髪を触ったほか、無理やりキスをした疑いが持たれている.

Sources have said that the officer allegedly fondled a female coworker's hair and forced her to kiss him inside a patrol car on Nov. 23 and 27 last year while on patrol.

市橋被告が逃亡生活手記に　英国人女性殺害、謝罪も

Ichihashi book details life on the lam

千葉県市川市で２００７年、英会話講師の英国人女性リンゼイ・アン・ホーカーさん＝当時（２２）＝が遺体で見つ かった事件で、殺人罪などで起訴された市橋達也被告（３２）が、逃亡生活の様子や心境などをまとめた手記「逮捕されるまで―空白の２年７カ月の記録」を幻 冬舎から２６日に出版することが２４日、関係者への取材で分かった。

Tatsuya Ichihashi -- accussed of killing Briton Lindsay Ann Hawker and disposing her body in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture -- was set to release a book Monday written by the fugitive himself chronicling his life on the lam.

沖縄県久米島町のオーハ島に４回渡って数カ月間、自給自足の生活をしたとし、大阪市のフェリー乗り場で逮捕された時も、同島に戻る途中だったと記述。千葉県警は先週末、捜査員を同島に派遣して所持品とみられる衣類や本を押収し、裏付け捜査を進めている。

The book, entitled "Before I Was Arrested -- Records of the Blank Two Years and Seven Months,'' and published by Gentosha Inc., details Ichihashi's four trips to Okinawa Prefecture's Ohajima, a tiny island off Kumejima, over several months, his subistence living there until being arrested at an Osaka ferry terminal while attempting to return to the island. Chiba Prefectural Police were dispatched to both islands last weekend and recovered personal effects, clothing and books. A search to corroborate his claims was ongoing.

市橋被告は手記で、０７年３月に千葉県警捜査員の職務質問を振り切って逃げてから０９年１１月に逮捕されるま で、電車やフェリーなどで移動し青森から沖縄まで計２３都府県を訪れたと記述。執筆理由を「自分が犯した罪の懺悔の一つ」としているが、殺害当時の様子や 動機には触れていない。

According to the book, after fleeing investigators who visited his apartment to question him, Ichihashi traveled as far north as Aomori prefecture and as far south as Okinawa by train and ferry through a total of 23 prefectures until his arrest ion November 2009. Ichihashi said the reason for his writings was that it was "one way to atone for sins  committed." The book, however, does not touch on his time with the victim, her condition or his motive.

リンゼイさんに謝罪し、四国で遍路道を歩く一方で「逮捕されればさらしものになる」「指名手配されると、自首し ても減刑にならない」などと逃走を続けた心境を説明。病院で整形手術を受けたほか、針と糸で鼻を縫ったり、カッターナイフで顔のほくろを切除するなど、自 ら整形を試みたことも明かした。

Ichihashi also explains in the book that although he apologized to Hawker and took a pilgrimage through Shikoku Prefecture to see forgiveness, he thought that "if he was arrested, he would be made a show of," and that "even if he surrendered, he would not be granted leniency in sentencing." Aside from receiving plastic surgery at clinics, Ichihashi also says in the book that he used a needle and thread to stich his nose himself, and also used a small knife to cut moles from his face.

同研究室の佐藤和之教授は、「緊急時に外国人を避難所へと誘導したり避難生活での最低限必要な情報を伝えたりするには、英語などへの翻訳に時間をかけるより日常的に使う簡単な日本語の方が早く、さまざまな母語の人に対応できる」と言う。

"In order to guide foreigners to evacuation centers and deliver the minimum necessary information to get by, using everyday, simple Japanese is faster than translating the information into English -- and it works better for people who speak other languages," said professor Kazuyuki Sato, of the Hirosaki research center.

同研究室は、被災時に自治体や消防、ボランティア団体らがラジオ放送や防災無線を使って情報を流したり、外国人向けの防災ポスターを作ったりする際に用語集を活用してほしいと期待する。

The same researchers hope that local bodies, fire departments, and other volunteer groups will put the new vocabulary lists into practce when broadcasting information via radio and wireless communications and in foreigner-oriented disaster-prevention posters.

佐藤教授は「災害時などでも外国人には英語など外国語で伝えないといけないという日本人の先入観があるが、できるだけやさしい日本語を使うことで十分に助けられる」と話している。

There are some Japanese who have the preconcieved notion that information must be conveyed to foreigners only in English or other foriegn languages --even times of disaster, but using simple Japanese as much as possible can also be extremely helpful," Sato said.

外国からの入国者数、最多に　１０年、中国ビザ緩和影響

Foreigners entering country hit new high in 2010 on eased Chinese visa restrictions

昨年１年間に日本に入国した外国人の数は約９４４万人で、統計を取り始めた１９５０年以降で過去最多を記録したことが、法務省入国管理局の統計で分かった。

Last year, the number of foreigners entering the country hit a record 9.4 million people -- the highest number since records began in 1950, according to Justice Ministry's Immigration Bureau statistics.

同局によると、２００９年は新型インフルエンザの発生や世界的な不況の影響で前年より約１５６万人少ない約７５８万人だった。一転して１０年は中国人向けの個人観光ビザの発給要件が緩和されたことなどで、約１８６万人も増えたという。

According to both agencies, 2009 saw a year-on-year slip in the number of foreigners visiting the country -- a decrease of 1.56 million to 7.58 million -- due to both the spread of swine flu and the effects of the global economic meltdown. In a reversal, visiting Chinese rose roughly 1.86 million over the last 10 years after the government eased rules for tourist visas for citizens of the communist country.

入国者の国・地域別では韓国が最も多く、約２６９万人。次いで中国本土（約１６６万人）、台湾（約１３１万人）、米国（約７６万人）、香港（約４８万人）の順。韓国からの入国者数が、前年より約４６％増えたほか、中国本土からも約３４％増えた。

By country, visitors from South Korea were the most, with approximately 2.69 million tourists. They were followed by visitors from the Chinese mainland (1.66 million), Taiwan (1.31 million), the United States (760,000), and Hong Kong (480,000). Those coming from South Korea rose nearly 46% year on year, with those from the Chinese mainland seeing a 34% rise over the same period.

一方で、中国漁船による沖縄・尖閣諸島沖での衝突事件が発生した９月以降、中国本土と香港からの入国者数は急減。８月に約２５万人だったのが、９月には約１９万人、１０月には約１６万人、１１月には約１１万人に減ったという。

However, visitors from the mainland and from Hong Kong saw a dramatic drop in the wake of an incident near the disputed Senkaku Islands area off Okinawa Prefecture that saw a Chinese fishing vessel crash into Japanese Coast Guard vessels. August saw roughly 250,000 tourists from the mainland and Hong Kong, but that dropped to 190,000 in September, 160,000 in October and again to 110,000 in November.

The Senkaku Islands are claimed by China, Japan and Taiwan, but are administered by Japan.

また、日本人の海外への出国者数も、１０年は約１６６４万人で、前年より約１１９万人増加した。

Japanese traveling abroad also saw an increase in 2010 from the previous year of about 1.19 million travelers to about 16.64 million in total.

ジョージ・ルーカス監督が手がけた米ＳＦ映画の人気シリーズ「スター・ウォーズ」全６作が３Ｄ化される。同作を配給する２０世紀フォックス映画が１４日、発表した。製作はルーカス・フィルム。視覚効果はインダストリアル・ライト＆マジック（ＩＬＭ）社が担当する。

Director George Lucas' has set out to to have all six films in his popular Star Wars series redone in 3D, the films' distributor, 20th Century Fox, were announced, Friday. Lucas' own Lucas Films will be handling production, with Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) handling visual effects.

第１弾は「スター・ウォーズ　エピソード１　ファントム・メナス」。２０１２年公開の予定だ。宇宙を舞台に共和国軍と帝国軍が世代を超えて戦う同シリー ズは、１９７７年に１作目が公開され（日本は７８年）、０５年に完結。６作合わせ、全世界で約４１億ドルの興行収入を上げている。

The first to be released, Star Wars The Phantom Menace, has been slated for a 2012 release in theaters. With the galaxy as the setting, the Republic and Imperial Armies' battles have spanned generations -- from 1977, when the first in the series was released, to 2005, with the series conclusion. The six titles in total have raked in $4.1 billion at box offices worldwide.

歌手の浜崎あゆみさん（３２）が、米国内で１日（日本時間２日）、同国在住のオーストリア国籍の俳優、マニュエル・シュワルツさん（３０）と結婚した。所属事務所が明らかにした。

Japanese singer Ayumi Hamasaki, 32, was married on New Year's Day to little-known Austrian actor Manuel Schwartz, 30, in a U.S. ceremony, her offices said.

昨年８月に米ロサンゼルスで収録されたミュージックビデオで共演したことをきっかけに、交際していたという。

The singer began dating Schwartz, who lives in Los Angeles, after filming a music video together in August.

浜崎さんは１９９８年歌手デビュー。０１～０３年、日本レコード大賞３連覇を達成するなど日本ポップス界をけん引してきた。また若い女性のファッションリーダー的存在として人気を集めている。０８年１月には左耳の聴力を失ったことを明らかにしている。

Hamasaki debuted as a singer in 1998 and from 2001-2003, she dominated the Japanese pop music scene, winning three straight Japan Record awards. Hamasaki has also been a fashion leader among young ladies. In January 2008, it was disclosed that the singer   had lost hearing in her left ear.
